I do get concerned that family violence is being badged as a 'gendered issue' when there is increasing evidence of male victims of physical and emotional abuse. In our attempt to deal with a very serious issue where too many women and children are being subjected to various forms of abuse by men, we need to be careful not to push the reality of women abusing men underground where it cannot be talked about openly. In saying that, I agree with your comment that some men "too quickly jump" to the "women abuse men" stance before accepting and owning the uncomfortable truth that for too long men have been the dominant perpetrators of abuse. This truth cannot be diminished or avoided. The lords prayer is a starting point for those new and less experienced in the discipline of prayer and if the whole church uses it then those learning feel included and able to pray too which hopefully leads to a mature personal prayer experience. I believe God is definitely up to something in our nation and in our churches especially within Salvation Army churches. We have been sensing a similar move taking place here in Port Augusta. God is doing an amazing work up here and people are beginning to be transformed as God's Spirit moves among them. We are being called to move in a new direction. The old is gone and the new has come. Our people are hungry and craving a move of the Spirit but for years they have had no direction and they don't know how to engage with the Spirit of God. As you have said already, there are many who do not understand. Who do not want to see change and who do not understand the things of the Spirit. But God has given clear direction. He is calling His church to rise up and to immerse itself in the presence of God. We are praying for a mighty move of the Spirit and I believe with all my heart that it is not far away. God has been strategically positioning people and he is preparing us for what will soon take place. We are with you in prayer my friend. Keep praying until something happens. All glory to the King of kings. As it was raining, I had my large golf brolly up, and offered its shelter to the next person to come along, a lady who was probably in her early to mid fifties. We got talking, as you do while waiting in lines at these things, and I found out she'd never been to anything like Supanova, had no idea how to get her pass for the weekend, what she needed to do to get a photo with Lucy Lawless, or even when things were. Being a little tech savvy, along with being reasonably gregarious when I know stuff, I offered to help guide her through the process of getting her wristband, getting her ticket for a photo, when the Q&A with Lucy was, all that sort of thing. Once I had her situated, oriented and sorted, we headed in to somewhere we could sit & rest until things kicked off. Once my wife was finished with her duties as a volunteer for the night, I wished this lady well, knowing she knew where & what she was doing for the rest of the night. She told me she was part of the management team for Axis of Awesome, and was so touched by my help, she wanted to give us tickets for one of their shows - totally unexpected, and not why I did what I did. As you know I'm fairly chatty & open, willing to share what I know, without any expectations, so what she did was a pleasant surprise, which helped reinforce my view that the geek/pop culture community can be awesome when you're not expecting it.Gamortiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08641177378419031250noreply@blogger.com
